We came across the fabulous Sophie Simone Designs jewelry this Summer while visiting Mexico City. Started by Franco-Mexican jewelry designer, Sophie Simone Cortina, her designs reflect her native Mexico in a feminine and versatile style.
Before becoming a jewelry maker, Sophie was a professional tennis player and a journalist. She began making jewelry as a child by creating necklaces out of vintage brooches her grandmother gave her.
"Timeless and unique collections that are greatly inspired by nature and Mexican culture."
Upon venturing into the world of jewelry making, she learned the lost wax technique and set out to create timeless and unique collections that are greatly inspired by nature and Mexican culture. Using the lost wax technique, which is an ancient craft that takes time and precision, Sophie gives life to her ideas by molding each design in wax. She uses silver from the Taxco mines in Mexico and works closely with the best Mexican artisans to bring her designs to life.
We love her use of texture and her sea life and flora inspiration. The 22 k. gold plated bronze pieces, as well as her silver works are impeccably made, stylish and great for everyday. We are delighted to have this beautiful jewelry line as the first (but not the last) designer from Mexico as a part of the Lesetta Collection.
